Step 2:
Status Validation

The tournament organizers intend to use a web-based process to validate, directly after the age verification process, that all players are compliant with the principle that the tournament is meant for basketball players whose status is amateur.

Applicants are rejected who:

1. Have played within either the A1 Basket League, or the B1 development league of the Cyprus Basketball Federation within the previous 12 months or an analogous competition in a foreign country during the same timeframe; or

2. Have served on the national team of Cyprus within the previous five (5) years or an analogous national team of a foreign country.

Status validation is important to provide a sense of fair play across the entire tournament and as such, status validation is handled with primary priority by the tournament organizers. This in turn means that a human-driven background check must be conducted on each applicant to assure that the applicant is indeed of amateur status.
